On the longest day of the year, a very warm day, there were a lot of people on the beach at Loowaard (at the river Rijn). You could hear the sounds of summer: people swimming in the water, people walking with the dog or laying in the sun.

And I was painting in the shadow of an old chestnut tree.

At the other side of the water I could see this little grove. The grass was yellow because of the dry weather.
